Go therefore and make disciples of all nations

Matthew 28:19

HFMC supports global missions in a few different ways. One way is by financially and prayerfully supporting missionaries. Another way is by sending short-term mission teams from our church to various different countries.
Find out more about the missionaries supported by the church and our short term mission trips below.

Our Missionaries

David Clemente

David Clemente is currently a U.S.- based missionary serving Asia. As a member of the Asia Leadership Team, Dr. David Clemente regularly travels to consult with pastors and supervise selected Asian leaders. He is an Asia Area Assistant Director overseeing FMWM interests in the Philippines, Creative Access Asia-IA, and the Oceania region. David has a vision for mobilizing partnerships and encouraging support for FMWM-Asia’s vision of influencing a million Asians for Jesus. David’s wife, Sarah, also served as an FMWM missionary in Asia until 2024, when she began serving as the Director of Christian Education for a local church in Illinois.

Jason and Wendi

Jason and Wendi have been serving with FMWM in Asia since 2011. In July 2022 they moved to Chiang Mai, Thailand, to serve the Southeast Asia region through support in the areas of discipleship and love-driven justice. Their first year in the country was spent taking language classes and seeking to build connectivity and collaboration among national leaders, pastors and already established works.

Pastora Tess

Pastora Tess leads a Children's Home in the Philippines. We have supported her and the incredible work that she has been doing for over a decade. Please pray for her and all the children in the home.

Mike and Vickie Reynen

Mike Reynen works with African leaders for the expansion of the church and the formation of local churches. Church planting and ministerial education are vital. Mike and Vickie both encourage the missionary team to empower national leaders. Vickie puts much of her energy into Tumaini Women Kenya, a discipleship-oriented micro-savings and loan ministry, and Thrive (also Kenya), a young women’s ministry discipling and advocating against gender-based violence and sex trafficking.

John and Donna Reynolds

Cross Commission was founded in 1993 by John and Donna Reynolds. The heart and namesake of Cross Commission can be found in the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19: “Go and make disciples of all nations…” For over 10 years, Cross Commission carried out this vision based in Central Illinois.
Through discipleship and mime training, John and Donna led mime troops to the corners of the United States and out into the nations of the World. In July 2004 God began writing a new chapter in the lives of the Reynolds family and the ministry of Cross Commission, facilitating a move to Central America.

Hink and Kaylene Smidderiks

Hendrik, son of retired missionaries Dean and Faith Smidderks, spent his childhood in Southern Africa. Kaylene was raised in Peoria, Illinois. Hendrik and Kaylene met while students at Greenville College. They served pastorates in Illinois and Kansas for 31 years. After leaving the pastorate, Hendrik worked as a corporate accounting manager. Kaylene has work experience as an administrative assistant, bookkeeper, small business owner, retail manager and general office manager. They have one adult daughter who is a nurse.
Hendrik and Kaylene have traveled and served extensively in Africa. They helped found and lead a foundation supporting the Nhaloi Hospital (a Free Methodist hospital) in Mozambique.
As FMWM missionaries, Hendrik will lead a team supporting church leaders and mission districts in West Africa and assisting in pastoral training and formation. Kaylene will serve the work of the international missionary team to West Africa, focusing on financial administration and communication.

Short Term Mission Trip to Guatemala

July 2024

A team from our church will be heading to Guatemala to serve with Cross Commission (see link above) for 9 days. They will be doing work projects and running a VBS at the Zona Teen Center. Then they will be going to a rural village and installing water pipes and also running a VBS for the children there.
Please pray for:
  • the team and their safety
  • the children and families that will hear the Gospel message
  • the Zona Teen Center staff as they work with and encourage them
