Seeds on the Rocky/Shallow Soil

From the Pastor’s ‘Puter:
We are well into the new year and for many of us we are hoping the new year will be better than the old year. But there were many wonderful blessings last year that we don’t want to forget.
The Multiply Groups are continuing and I am excited as we see many people in these growth groups. The material will take us up to and just a bit beyond Easter. We hope to have new material selected so we can relaunch the groups this fall. Discipleship groups is something we hope will always be a part of our church.
Pastor C. J. is working on directing a Community Easter Musical and the first rehearsal for this will be on Sunday January 28, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. Men, we need many of you to do this musical this year!
Our annual Mystery Dinner will be just a little bit later this year than in the past but we will keep you posted as to when this will take place. This has become something many people have looked forward to as well as a great fund raiser for the Mission Team.
I am extremely excited about the Embracing Hope mental health seminar that will be hosted at Calvary Baptist Church. This is an ecumenical community wide supported seminar that is completely FREE to those who attend. It will be held on Saturday, February 3, starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending by 3:00 p.m. Our main speaker is Nannette Larson who was the Illinois State Employee of the year in 2016. I was very blessed to hear her speak last year in Alton and I left blown out of the water at how helpful that seminar was for me. The information and inspiration that will be given this day will be fantastic! I hope you will attend!
Have a happy and blessed year and please know that you and your families are prayed for by your pastors and their families!
Love and prayers!
